Global revenues from the biotechnology industry reported a growth rate of 17.51% in the ten-year period (1992 to 2002). The global biotechnology market is 30 year old with over 4,300 firms in US, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Canada. US dominates 70% of the global biotechnology market while the Asia-Pacific region contributes $1 billion to the international biotech market. India is also emerging as a significant player and boasts of over 160 biotech companies with combined revenues amounting to $150 million.
