Wipro PHP Training Experience by Ankur PateLIt was really a pleasure to provide PHP training to Wipro employees for 3 days(during 11th,12,13th July 2007).Thanks to Santhosh(who is a director of training company in chennai and having exclusive partnership with Wipro for training needs), Priya & Shoumya(office asistants of Santhosh). Priya & Shoumya kept me informed & booked my flight tickets and co-ordinated for PHP talks with Wipro officials. How I got selected at Wipro for PHP training?First, Santhosh contacted me for Ruby on Rails training initially and we end up with PHP training needs at Wipro. It was a rigorous selection process. Santhosh & his office assistants collected my credentials - experience from internet and presented it to Wipro officials. Then, someone from Wipro took phone interview for almost 1.5 hours and asked me lots of questions of PHP & web application etc. It was like a phone test - about my teaching style, explanation power & clear fundamentals. Finally, Wipro people agreed to have me as their PHP trainer.PHP Training Sessions at Wipro TechnologiesI left Ahmedabad on 10th July,2007 tuesday at around 4-00 evening and flew via KingFisher Airline - one of the very good airline introduced by Vijay Mallya. It was very good airline experience with King Fisher airline. The flight reached to Chennai via Pune & Bangalore at around 10-00 night.I took the prepaid cab & arrived to "Mapps Inn". I was very tired when I checked in to hotel. Just after few minutes, I got call from Karthikeyan - the co-ordinator from Santhosh's company. 3 Days of PHP Training at WiproKarthikeyan booked the car for me and we left the hotel at around 8-00 morning & reached to Wipro by 9-00 morning. The training room name was "Parsurama". There were 17 people available for PHP training. All of them had J2EE experience but not real good experience with web application development. All were working for some maintenance projects of Sun Microsystem.Thanks to Aarul Joseph for all his support for network & Linux set-up during the training. He showed the canteen of Wipro during lumch time and arranged my internet surfing in library area. Almost everyday, below was the schedule: 9-00 to 10-30 - First session 10-30 10-45 Tea break 10-45 to 12-30 - Second Session 12-30 to 1-30 - Lunch Break 1-30 to 3-30 - Third Session 3-30 to 3-45 - Tea Break 3-45 to 5-30 - Forth Session The food was excellent and reasonable(only 28 Rs.) in canteen. I also enjoyed different juices(lemon, mango etc.) It was remarkable to see that - good eating habits were encouraged through posters. During these 3 days, I conducted many interactive sessions, taught PHP programming, discussed web security issues and troubleshoot their small coding problems. I really enjoyed these 3 days, and I hope participants from Wipro enjoyed it. I also finished "Google - Inside Story" book during my stay at hotel and learnt many inside secrets of Google - the internet search giant. I returned back to home town Ahmedabad on 14th July,2007 saturday morning with really good new thoughts & experience. I wish PHP will get spread like wild fire in coming days and I get invitation from Infosys & other top companies as well :) Enjoy open source!!! |
